10 Favorite Pictures of 2018

Today I am sharing my 10 favorite photos from 2018 which is always so much harder than I think it will be.  I loved scrolling back through the previous 12 months of photographs and reliving all of the sweet memories we made as a family.  Not only with each other but with our extended family and friends.  It’s been another really blessed year for our family.  Although, we are still very much waiting and praying for our sweet boy to come home from China!

Let me share with you my 10 favorite photos from 2018!

We had the best time visiting my parents in Arizona for spring break this last year.  It’s so rare Scott and I get a photo of just the two of us and sun-kissed and vacation relaxed to boot!  I just loved that my kids grabbed each other’s hands as we headed into dinner and I can’t believe how much they have grown just since March.

This year we worked really hard on completing our home study, I-800a and submitting our dossier to bring home our sweet boy from China.  We took lots of pictures in post offices and federal buildings to document the process.  The picture above accompanied our paperwork to China and will be the photograph the officials see when we get matched to our child.  We pray we meet him in 2019!

In May, my sister had her first baby and I took a trip all by myself to Seattle to meet my niece and spend some time with her.  It was such a sweet gift and I loved all the snuggles and one on one time.  We are so thankful for apps like Marco Polo and Tinybeans that helps us stay connected even though we are so far apart.

In June, we enjoyed a trip to a tiny house that we won in a charity auction.  The kids thought the toilet was fascinating, we nearly submerged the paddle boat and Lucy’s leg was injured so she wasn’t walking.  So many fun memories! You can read more about our tiny house adventure here.

We made lots of memories this summer from our lake trips.  We enjoyed nana and papa camp, the state fair and pool days with friends and of course riding the camel at the zoo.

We also enjoyed another favorite summer tradition of becoming tourists in our downtown.  This year we checked out the state historical museum, Chinese park, pedestrian bridge, had cupcakes and enjoyed wading in the fountains downtown.

Fall brought another season of Iowa State football with both sets of grandparents.  We even had a weather delay due to severe weather that was quite memorable.  We enjoyed the orchard with both grandparents and we took Solon on a special trip to Pittsburgh to visit grandpa and see a Pittsburgh Steelers game.

We also enjoyed a family wedding in Minneapolis before celebrating Thanksgiving with Scott’s family!  It was such a beautiful day on Thanksgiving that we were able to snap a few pictures and get an updated family photo.  Can’t you just picture Scott holding Quincy?

We are wrapping up the year enjoying all this advent season has to offer.  Lots of pajama time, snuggling up for movies and enjoying each simple moment the magic the season brings!

Technically, I am cheating but I would be remiss not to mention that this little space has been such a blessing to me and my family this year.  We ended the year launching two signature products and speaking at several events.  It’s been such a fun and busy season but the very best part is meeting all of you and encouraging you to keep on keeping on.  From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being the best tribe! #tribekoko

My word for 2018 was gratitude.  I knew our adoption journey would have its ups and downs and it’s proved true.  Through it all, we have had so many opportunities to be grateful. We have found adventure, made memories, leaned into new opportunities, learned and grew.  2018 has been a good year.

With the closing of 2018, I am handing off the 10 on the 10th link-up to my friend Jen who will steward it forward in 2019.  I am anxious to see what’s next for the link-up, Simple Purposeful Living and our family.   If you blogged your 10 favorite photos make sure to link-up below and then pop by some other blogs and say hello!

Until next time keep on keeping on with a simple purposeful life!
