November/December Snapshot

It’s been a hot second since I updated the blog on life happenings for the month of November and December.  One of the reasons I started this blog 9 years ago this month was to document our life, as a sort of an online scrapbook.

Even though, I write about a variety of topics now centered mostly around intentional living, I love to still document the day to day and print the posts off into a yearly book to save for my kids.  They love looking back and so do I.

One reason I didn’t totally freak out when my computer died last August was I knew I had so much captured in this space, all was not lost.  So without further adieu, let’s take a look back at the last two months of 2017.  They were full of sweet memories, adventures and fun!

Lucy and I spend our days together.  She is my faithful assistant and spends much of her day helping me or playing with her babies, playing in her kitchen, with her doll house, etc.  She also loves applesauce pouches.  If I would let her, she would eat them all day everyday.

Grandma sent matching Thanksgiving pajamas and most of us were quite excited about them.

Lucy was my faithful Christmas shopping assistant. She is at the great age where shopping amnesia still exists.  She might have been with me and even played with some of the toys she got for Christmas!

We love to play games as a family.  It’s one of my favorite ways to connect as a family.

We snuck in a date night with our best friends in November.  We always have a blast when we are together.  It’s extra sweet when we go out without the kids and finish a whole thought ;)!

Vera and I worked at disguising her turkey from school.  Last year, she turned it into an American Girl doll and this year she opted for a colorful owl.

I recorded a Happy Playces holiday podcast with my new microphone (a birthday present from Scott).

We took a carriage ride around our uptown shopping area as a family to get us into the holiday spirit.

We hosted Friendsgiving with our couples small group from church.

Our besties “tissued” us, as Vera called it.

We enjoyed some playdates with friends!

My cousin Madelynne came to stay with us before Thanksgiving break!

Then we all headed to Seattle for a fun week with my family!

We came home and decorated the house for Christmas.

We also took our fair share of after school and weekend naps!

I taught Lucy how to play the game Memory and Goin’ Fishing.  Her memory is better than mine ;).

Scott and I snuck in a date night for his birthday.  We enjoyed dinner out and then a little Christmas shopping and dreaming at the Apple Store.  He is working on “Jeston-izing” our house.  Alexa is our new friend!

We had some family room picnics while we lounged around watching football and movies!

We saw Santa Clause and did a little family shopping at the new outlet mall.

We snuck in another family movie night in our bed!

Lucy and I took advantage of a few warm days with some walks outside and a stop to the park.

It was mid-season watch night at Vera’s dance and acrobatics class so we got to see all she has been working on this year.

We watched our fair share of Christmas movies.

We also did a lot of Christmas baking and subsequent eating!

Nana invited us to her annual cookie exchange so we brought a lot of yummy cookies home to sample.

We enjoyed ISU basketball games since Scott season tickets for his birthday.

We did our fair share of crafting including these lava lamp bottles the kids learned about making at school.

I hosted my favorite neighbor ladies for our annual Christmas present exchange and breakfast.  My friend Melanie gifted us each that thankful sign se made herself.

My grandparents drove 2 hours to come have a pre-Christmas lunch with my cousin, Scott, Lucy and I before they headed to Arizona with my parents for Christmas.

My friend Lindsay made me this custom sign to hang about my computer in my office.  I love it so much.  It reminds me of our sweet tribe and to keep on pursuing this passion!

Madelynne came back to spend a few days with us before she went home for Christmas break.  We put her to work helping us bake.

We had FR-amily Christmas with the Porter family and then FRIENDSmas with our couples small group.  It was such a fun weekend to kick off Christmas.

I snuck in a much needed moment of quiet and coffee at Target during the hustle and bustle of the holidays!

We attended a funeral of a dear friend’s mom with my inlaws.

We got all adjusted for the holidays at our weekly chiropractic appointment.

Then we holiday-ed hard until the end of December.  What a great way to end 2017!
Thanks for indulging me.  I love to look back and remember all the sweet times with gratitude.  Sure, there are hard days but they seem to fade and the sweetness remains.  I hope your 2018 is off to a great start, ours is full of a little more down time which is a nice respite after a busy holiday season!
Hope to see you Wednesday for the 10 on the 10th link-up!
Until next time, keep on keeping on with an intentional, joyful, faith-filled life.  #tribekoko
