5 Friday Favorites that Bring Me Joy

First of all, I want to wish you all the happiest Easter!  I am sharing my faith story at my church on Sunday and if you are local and don’t have a home church to worship with I invite you to Ankeny Free at 8, 9:30 or 11 am (find more info here)!  12 years ago the gospel was made personal for me and I have never been the same.  Jesus’ forgiveness and love was immediate and I have never walked alone since.  May you all know the hope that comes from Christ alone this Easter!

Now, on to my favorites this week.  I am so excited to start co-hosting a fun link-up the 4th Friday of every month.  I will start hosting April 27th. All the co-hosts will share 5 things that bring us joy and we hope you will join us too.  You know I am all about cultivating a grateful heart!  So, let me share what is bringing me joy this month :)!

1 – Fresh Daffodils

I love, love, love spring flowers.  I love them all.  All month long our local grocery store, Hy-Vee, has offered daffodils for $1.50 per bundle.  I have gotten several bundles and each has lasted about a week.  It just fills me with joy to see those sweet sunshine-y flowers when I walk by!

2 – Spring Bucket List

I have shared before (you can read more here) why I love created seasonal bucket lists with my kids.  They are old enough now to remind me to do it and so the other night we finally put our heads together to make our list.  It always surprises me how simple in nature that activities they choose to put on the list.  Our list includes things like roast marshmallows, go to the park, ride bikes, color Easter eggs, and see cousins!  Investing in time with my favorite people brings me joy!

3 – Our Wednesday

Wednesday was just one of those really good joy-filled days.  Lucy and I got to have lunch together at Target.  We ran into a bunch of friends while we were there and were able to catch up with them.  Then, that afternoon we played outside until about 6:15, had dinner and took baths because our clothes were dirty from the muddy yard.  It was just a perfect kind of day in my book.  Lots of fun playing basketball together, riding bikes, enjoying the fresh spring air and spending time together.

4 – A Fun Find

I have really tried to reign in the spending this year as we save for our adoption but I saw this darling pink dress at Target and just loved the scalloped detail and the style can be dressed both up and down.  I know I will wear it a bunch this summer.  Something new to wear brings me joy!  Now, let’s hope I don’t freeze on Easter when I wear it ;)!  You can find the dress here (it does run big).

5- Resurrection Eggs

This week we have all enjoyed walking through the Easter story with our resurrection eggs.  Ours kids have asked some really hard questions.  It reminds me of the deep sacrifice Jesus made when he bore the unjust torment and pain on my behalf.  Knowing Jesus brings me daily joy!

My mother-in-law gifted them to Solon his first Easter and we have used them ever since.  Each year our kids take away a different meaning and it gives us all an opportunity to reflect and rejoice at Easter.  You can find them here.

What is bringing you joy this month?

Until next time keep on keeping on with a simple purposeful life!
