April 2018 5 Things Bringing Me Joy

I am so excited to be co-hosting a monthly linkup with 3 other sweet ladies I met through blogging and now consider friends!  Crystal from Hall Around Texas, Whitney from Polka-Dotty Place and Heather from My Glittery Heart.  On the 4th Friday of every month, we will be sharing 5 Things Friday – What’s Bringing Me Joy!  You can blog and join us by linking up, we hope you will!

By now you know I love to find the gratitude in every single day.  One of my favorite movies of all time is Pollyanna.  If you haven’t seen it, it stars Hayley Mills who is orphaned and sent to live with her aunt.  She is always looking for the positivity in everything.  She is always playing the “glad game” so that even if she is feeling sad, she will start to feel glad!  So, let’s play the glad game and share 5 things that are bringing me joy lately!

1 – The Weather

The windows are open, the grass is turning green and the sun feels warm on our skin.  Spring has finally sprung around here and it looks like it is sticking around.  My attitude is so much brighter and spunkier when the weather is warm and cheery.  We have been eating as many meals as we can outside on the deck and playing outside every chance we get.  The kids have pulled out their new spring clothes and we all look a little more sun-kissed.

2 – Grocery Pick-Up

The other day I had to run into the store to pick-up a few things and still went ahead and ordered my groceries online.  So, when I was done, I swung around to pick up my groceries.  They loaded them all into my car while I listened to a podcast!  I will never go back to shopping for all my groceries in the store again.  Do you order your groceries online?

3 – Meeting Lea

So, last Friday I got to meet a fellow blogger.  The crazy thing about blogging is you meet people from all over the place and often you only dream of meeting them in person.  Well, Lea actually has family just 15 minutes from where I live so when she planned to visit, she asked if I wanted to meet up.  Of course I did! We had the best time chatting over coffee and dessert with her family and I left with a full heart.  The biggest surprise I have found in blogging is the sweet friendship I have formed!  It truly is such a sweet community!

4 – I 800A Approval

We got our I-800A approval which means we have officially been granted permission to immigrate a child from the People’s Republic of China to the USA!  While we waited for that approval, we have been working hard to get all the documentation we need to send to China in our Dossier.  We are down to one appointment, one form, a bunch of notarizing and photo-copying before we send it off. We can finally see the finish line in sight for this step and that is giving us new enthusiasm to finish this step!

5 – Cultivating Seeds & Prepping the Garden

One of my favorite activities to do as a family is prepare our garden.  It’s become a tradition to go to the garden center together and pick out all the must-have plants for our garden plus a bonus “let’s try it” plant.  We generally stick to the plan on Mother’s Day rule of thumb so it’s a perfect way to spend the day with those I love doing something we all enjoy doing!  We cultivated a few plants from seeds this year, we will see how they fare.  We don’t always have the best luck with seeds, we do better with established plants but we are trying to grow sunflowers, zinnias, marigolds and basil!  It was fun to plant them if nothing else ;)!

Don’t forget to link up if you blogged about 5 things bringing you joy, otherwise make sure to share in the comments :)!  Happy weekend!  Solon is headed off for a road trip with Nana and Papa and Vera has dance pictures!  Wish me luck on the hairdo!

Until next time keep on keeping on with a simple purposeful life!
