May 2018 -5 Joyful Things

Yay! Today is Friday and Memorial Day weekend in my book kicks off summer even though my kids have 3 more days of school.  We are so close!  I am both excited and a bit nervous because school to summer takes a few weeks to get used to for all of us!  But before we get to all of our fun this weekend, it’s time to share 5 things bringing me joy this month!  If you blog, don’t forget to link-up and share.

What’s Bringing Me Joy

1 – My new niece

Eek!  Kinsley Jane is about the sweetest thing there ever was and in two weeks I will be holding her and hanging out with my sister and brother-in-law in Washington.  My parents knew I would want to be there but all our discretionary funds are currently being saved for China so they graciously shared frequent flyer miles so I could go!  I am looking forward to reading on the airplane and eating all the snacks I pack myself :)!

2 – Fridays

I have fallen in love with Fridays.  Scott gets off earlier in the day and knowing the weekend is coming is just the best.  Last Friday, Scott met Lucy and me for lunch.  I did my usual Friday Favorites Instagram and Facebook Live and then we went out for a FRAMILY dinner with our dear friends in a little town nearby.  We had dinner at the local pizza place, the kids played on the playground at the town square and then we came home and had ice cream cones and played outside until way past everyone’s bedtimes.

3 – Girl, Wash Your Face

If you have not read this book yet, you need to!  I checked it out from the library but it’s one of those books I wanted to highlight specific quotes because they resonated with me.  Rachel Hollis is relatable, there were times I thought she climbed in my brain and wrote what I was thinking.  Her stories were poignant and she was encouraging yet told you it’s your life, your choice the way you live it.  It’s a must read!

I also just ordered Annie F. Down’s 100 Days to Brave to start on Monday for her summer book club!

4 – New Water Glass

My friend Heather makes the cutest items for her Etsy shop so when she posted about her new water glasses that help you get enough water in a day, I knew I needed one.  Better yet, they have a monogram and you all know I love monograms.  I have gotten so many compliments on it and I love that it’s large so I don’t have to refill it as often which gives me one less excuse not to drink enough water.  You can find them here :).

5 – Baseball Evenings

We have loved spending our evenings at the baseball field watching Solon!  The girls make forts in the wagon, play with neighbors and friends on adjacent diamonds and my inlaws come to almost every game.  Solon has grown a lot this year, it’s been a tough season with only 2 wins but there’s a life lesson in learning to lose gracefully and to face opposition head-on :)!

So, there you have it 5 small and big reasons my heart is full and I have a perma-grin on my face!  Now, I better go pack for our lake weekend.  In case you want to know why I love the lake so much, read this post about 10 reasons lake life is the best life.   And, if you need a yummy, simple, summer dessert – try this rhubarb crisp.  It’s delicious!  Happy Memorial Day weekend, I hope you enjoy all 3 days doing what matters most with those that matter most!

Until next time keep on keeping on with a simple purposeful life!
