Girls Shared Bedroom Vision

**Thank you to Suite Dreams for Kids for partnering with me for this series, all opinions are my own!

We are working our way through our to-do list in anticipation that our adoption is finalized later this fall!  We have 4 bedrooms upstairs and one in the basement so technically all 4 kids could have their own bedroom but no one is ready to be in the basement which meant the girls will need to share a bedroom.

Solon had a pair of bunk beds that we purchased from an amazing local furniture store, Suite Dreams for Kids.  It’s the same place we purchased our nursery furniture.  The quality is great and they have price points for all budgets!  So, we decided to do a little furniture flip-flop and give solon Vera’s queen bed and put the bunk beds in Vera’s room which would turn into the girls shared bedroom.  We like having a queen bed in one of the kids’ bedrooms for when my mom and dad come to stay and want to be right next to the kids!

The girls are SO excited to share a room.  They have been practicing “sharing” on the weekends since Lucy considers it a party.  We expect to make the full transition once we are done with all the finishing touches this summer.  So today I thought I would share with you the before pictures of the space as well our vision for the girls shared a bedroom!

Vera transitioned into this space when she was three.  I found the headboard and Goodwill and painted it to match our woodwork. The dresser was from my inlaws that I repainted the grey color.  My mom made her the quilt and Vera added all of her pillows ;)!

I loved her gallery wall full of sweet heirlooms like a hand-painted canvas by my mom, my ballet pointe shoes, Vera’s birth announcement, my grandma’s dress (Vera was named after her) and my mom’s needlepoint baby sampler!

One weekend we made the bed switch and now Vera’s room is ready for some new decor.  I took down the gallery wall and just placed the dresser there for now.  We will sell it at the upcoming garage sale along with those lamps.  We also need to address the ceiling fan because bunk beds and fans don’t mix.

Girls Shared Bedroom Vision

So, let me show you the vision Simi and Lisa from Suite Dreams for Kids and I came up with during our in-home consultation.  They came to our house, took measurements, listened to what I wanted the space to be for our girls and then we came up with the color palette and design!

I wanted something fresh, feminine and a space that could grow with the girls!  We chose coral, navy, and grey as our focal colors along with pops of gold, silver, mint, and lavender to keep the space youthful and sweet!  We ordered a much larger 7 drawer dresser in a navy color so the girls have plenty of storage!

Since making bunk beds is for the birds we decided on Beddy’s bedding.  It wraps around the mattress like a fitted sheet and it’s an all in one bedding set (think sheet meets sleeping bag).  The options are endless but we went with a graphic grey print.  Simi and Lisa found some awesome prints to layer in for curtains and accent pillows!

Since the room isn’t huge, Simi suggested a round thin framed mirror to go above the dresser flanked by some crystal, blingy lamps.  Every girl needs a mirror in their room for those dance parties and pretend make-up sessions!  We plan to switch out the ceiling fan with a flush-mount light!  The Suite Dreams for Kids Design team has a few more surprises up their sleeves to make this shared bedroom space extra special for the girls.

I can’t wait to see it all come together in the coming months.  We opted to surprise the girls with the final design so Vera can’t wait to have her very own bedroom reveal, don’t worry we will video it and share Lucy’s and Vera’s reaction!

If you are local, I highly recommend Suite Dreams for Kids.  Their showroom is amazing and full of inspiration and their staff will work with you no matter your budget!  Stay tuned for more updates coming soon!
