Life Lately Volume 4

Oh my word, is summer hibernation a thing? If it is, that’s what we are doing for the rest of the summer.  These last 2 weeks have been INSANE. I knew they would be because when I planned everything I didn’t know I would be gifted a plane ticket to go see my sister and new niece (which was amazing but just not part of the original plan).

However, the garage sale is underway and we are overwhelmed by the generosity of strangers and friends from all parts of our life.  Truly, I was so humbled by the very nice donations that poured in!

On the first day of summer vacation, we went to Taco Hangover by Scott’s work for lunch outside and then went to the pool as a family to celebrate summer vacation.  It was in the 90’s so we all enjoyed swimming before a pool fecal contamination sent us home, we were not to blame!

The kids have had swimming lessons with our besties every day so one day we brought Max home to play in the backyard afterward while I packed and got ready for my trip!

I headed out to Seattle on Tuesday after dropping the kids off at my inlaws house for the night.  My mom then came down the next day to watch the kids the rest of the time while Scott was at work.  They watched lots of movies when she wasn’t shuttling them to art camp, baseball camp, and swimming lessons!

Meanwhile, I thoroughly enjoyed loving on my sister, brother-in-law and new niece.  It’s fun to share my experience with my sister and help usher into this new “hood”.  She is a natural and my new niece has a very sweet nature!  We did venture out to a fun sushi place (where the sushi rotated by on a conveyor belt) and did a little shopping :).

When I got home, it was time for Vera’s dance recital.  Sunday, she and I headed to dress rehearsal.  She performed ballet, tap, and acrobatics.  Lucy has been walking around ever since tapping and dancing.  She will take a class in the fall too and she can hardly wait!

Vera had quite the fan club there to cheer her on!  She also danced with her bestie Maleah which might have been her favorite part 🙂

I am so thankful for this lady – she takes over when I need her to and loves to carpool as much as I do :)!

This week was spent organizing the adoption fundraiser garage sale, taking the kids to swimming lessons and regrouping after being away.  We haven’t eaten any home cooked meals this week but you can’t do it all!

Solon played his last game of the season and lost in the first round of the tournament to his bestie.  Max actually bunted and helped bring a guy home to break the tie and win the game.  You can’t be too mad when your best friend makes the game-winning play even if it’s against you :)!  Solon had a good hit and scored a run so it was a great way to end the year!

Solon has been interested in learning how to cook so he has now made two batches of macaroni and cheese for lunch this week.  I am getting a glimpse of what to come and the growing up thing isn’t so bad.  We are also learning how to load dishes into the dishwasher and help around the house.  Next up, he wants to learn how to make frozen pizza ;)!

So, that’s a little life lately around here.  We hope to remedy the fact we have only been to the public pool once this summer next week.  Our schedule is much more clear and we are all looking forward to some lazier days at home!  I will keep you posted on the garage sale too!

Until next time keep on keeping on with a simple purposeful life!
