Growing up, we made peanut butter star cookies every Christmas. It involved flour and lots of ingredients. Then, I met my husband and one of the many wonderful things he brought to our marriage was this insanely easy 4 ingredient peanut butter star cookie recipe..

He actually won a blue-ribbon for them at the Iowa State Fair and I don’t know a better vote of confidence than that folks and did I mention there’s only 4 ingredients and my guess you have 3 of them in your pantry right now.

Let me introduce you to the only way you’ll ever make peanut butter star cookies going forward. More rich and decadent without any flour!

Simple Peanut Butter Star Cookie Recipe

Simple Peanut Butter Star Cookie Ingredients

1 Cup Sugar

1 Cup Peanut Butter (we prefer smooth peanut butter but chunky works as well)

1 Egg

Brach’s Star Candies to garnish

Simple Peanut Butter Star Cookie Directions

Grab you stand mixer and combine, the sugar, egg, and peanut butter. The trickiest part of this cookie is making sure you mix it long enough. Don’t stop too soon!

Stir the batter until the batter is crumbling and is no longer sticking to the sides. Even though the batter looks crumbly, when you pick some up in your hand and squish, it will form a dough ball.

Scoop up a small amount of the batter into your hand and squish into a 1/2 inch dough ball. You don’t want the dough ball to get too big. Smaller is better in this case.

Once the dough ball is formed and placed on the pan, gently push down (but not too hard) a candy star. Yes, you cook the cookies the the candy star on top!

Cook for 11 minutes at 350 degrees. Do not overbake. Pull out of the oven and allow to cool on a cookie rack on the counter before storing away.

This cookie recipe yields 2 dozen cookies total.

Hershey kisses for peanut butter star cookies

What if I can’t find candy stars?

They are hard to find, especially, if you make these cookies outside of the holiday season. So, a quick and easy substitute is Hershey’s kisses. Unwrap the kisses and gently push on to the cookie and bake 11 minutes.

What kind of peanut butter should you use?

We prefer smooth peanut butter but chunky peanut butter makes a delicious and different textured peanut butter star cookie. If you haven’t tried it, I suggest you do!
