May Day 2013

This post is a tad late but I am still in the month of May so we are good since the holiday is titled “May Day”!    It is one of those holidays I love but totally don’t remember until someone knocks on our door…luckily this year our 1st basket arrived in the morning so I had time to scurry to our pantry and dig up some “treats”.  We actually had 1 bag of microwave popcorn, raisins, spring m&m’s and some fruit leathers…We had enough to make family baskets for 5 families.  Solon and I whipped up some labels on my silhouette machine and made the baskets together.  He loves doing special projects while little sister is sleeping.  When she woke up, I taught him the phrase, “Ding dong ditch” and he caught on QUICK!  We had to drive to all of the places since we don’t have any immediate neighbors yet (next year!!).  We even got ding dong ditched too which he thought was great….
I love doing this holiday with my kiddos because I have fond memories of hiding in bushes and running like crazy from house to house with my little baskets.  I am so glad people around here carry on this tradition, one to keep for sure!!!  We do write our names so people know the food is “safe” – keeping it 21st century here and we had to text a few so that they would check their door :)!
Happy May Day!
