The kitchen is the heart of the home and where I (maybe you too) spend a lot of time during my days. In order to maximize my time and minimize my efforts, I added a few simple + purposeful kitchen organization tools that have been game changer solutions in our home. Add these to you kitchen stat to simplify your life on purpose.

Lazy Susan’s

If I had to choose a favorite organization tool this would be it. I feel like it’s the under dog but the real MVP of kitchen organization. Lazy Susan’s do not get enough credit when it comes to kitchen organization. You don’t have to knock things over to get to the back of the shelf and things don’t go to the abyss in the back of the cabinets and hard to reach places.

We use the deeper lazy Susan’s for oils, vinegars, soaps and things of that nature. We use the smaller lipped ones like these for spices. I love to use the really big ones like these in the corner of my pantry so things don’t go missing in those dark corners. If you know you know!

Clear Canisters

They are pretty but that’s not why I use them. You have to break down the box now or later so I’d rather do it now. I hate grabbing an empty box, it’s like nails on a chalkboard for me. What about you? So, I decant (fancy word for empty) things like cereal, flour and even candy into clear canisters. Then, I have my kids break down the boxes #winning.

Then, when I go to meal plan (do you have our best-selling meal planner yet?) I can easily peruse my clear canisters and add what I need to get at the grocery store.

Can Riser

I am short too so always appreciate a nice riser myself. I love placing my cans on risers so I can easily see what I have, don’t over buy things I don’t need and things don’t go missing at the back of the shelf. That seems to be an ongoing issue I am combating.

Baskets with Labels

Now, I love everything to be pretty and fancy but let’s be honest I live with 4 kids and a husband who just want to be able to grab what they need and go. So, bins or baskets with very general category labels work well for us. We keep things like snacks, lunch boxes and water bottles at kid level so they can access them independently and things like desserts and medicines up high out of sight, out of mind.

Tray Organizer

My name is Erin and I love a good platter and tray for entertaining but how do you store all those? I use a pots and pan rack. You could use it for lids or trays. I can easily grab what I need without lifting them all off one another. I have 2 in my cabinet and it works like a charm.

Trays

You probably never thought of a tray as an organizational tool but it totally is. Do you have a bunch of random things you need to keep in close proximity on the counter. Things like your coffee pot, milk frother or meal planner (do you have one of those yet? Get it here). Place it all on a tray and instantly it looks less cluttered and more cohesive to the eye. Instead of 10 items, it’s like your brain just sees one. It’s pure magic I tell you. I have trays in every room of the house.

In-Drawer Knife Block

Let’s move to the drawers. I already mention I despise counter clutter. It makes my brain feel cluttered so I added an in-drawer knife block and it’s been a game changer. I can easily grab what I need but it’s concealed in the drawer.

Drawer Organizers

Skip the all in one silverware organizer and just get yourself some clear plastic drawer organizers. Is it just me or is there never enough room for all the spoons and forks? Drives me bananas. So, I chucked that all-in-one organizer and replaced it with drawer organizers (seen above) instead. I use different shapes and sizes for all my drawers.

Pro Tip – Use a tiny ball of museum gel (get it here) under your drawer organizers so they do not shift when you open and close your drawers. You’ll be shook how this changes your life, you are welcome.

Bamboo Dividers

Some things that go in your drawers just don’t fit nicely into plastic containers. Never fear, that’s where bamboo dividers come into play. Add a few to your drawer to compartmentalize things and instantly your drawer looks more tidy.

Pullout for Garbage

Did I mention I have 4 kids? We go through our fair share of garbage and we love to recycle. In this house, a must-have was a garbage & recycling bin pullout drawer. It makes me happy and I know that makes me crazy but you need one!
