Life Lately Volume 15 May 2019

We leave in less than a week for China to go get Quincy!  Just typing that blows my mind.  Scott and I were talking in the car the other night and we said we will remember these moments for the rest of our lives.  We are crossing things off our packing list, ordering last minute essentials from Amazon (like these, how cool are they?) and finishing off the last few days of school!

May was a busy month full of a whole lot of fun.  I feel like May is the spring version of December!  We cram a lot into it except unlike December which gives way to the slow days of January, May kicks off the crazy summer season.  Before I fly off to China to bring our son home, let’s take a look back at a little life lately from May!

Nana and Papa arrived back home April 30th from wintering in Florida!  We are all glad they are back.  The kids have already at a slumber party at their house!

We celebrated May Day.  If you don’t know what I am talking about, read this post.  If you have been following me for any length of time, you know I LOVE May Day and so do the kids.  It’s such a fun little tradition.

We found Kitty who has been missing for about 18 months in a suitcase we never use.  We were all so excited to have found Solon’s beloved cat!  Have you ever lost anything special???

We have been attending lots and lots of weeknight and weekend baseball games for our favorite #12 which means I am using my favorite wagon to haul all the things.  We also have been eating lots and lots of homemade lunchables in my favorite inexpensive containers.

Nana arrived home just in time to celebrate her 70th birthday (doesn’t she look fabulous?).  We watched the derby, watched Solon play baseball, and Scott smoked meat (her request).  While the boys cooked us girls went and got pedicures.  It was Lucy’s first time and she was excited.

Speaking of birthdays, we also celebrate Quincy’s 2nd birthday on May 5th (Cinco De Mayo baby) with some Mexican food and walking around afterward.  We all can’t wait to celebrate with him when he gets home too!

Every year we celebrate Mother’s Day by going and buying all of our flowers and garden supplies.  The kids also spent the night at Nana and Papa’s while Scott and I went out for one last date night before Mr. Q comes home!

Lucy made me a beautiful stepping stone for Mother’s Day at Sunday School.  She was so excited to help me place it in the backyard!

Lucy wrapped up swimming lessons for the spring.  Foss Swim School is coming to our town in the fall and we will plan to enroll her in that going forward.  She loves the water which means she needs to know how to swim!

One night Scott had to work the Rotary booth at a local event in our town so we joined him for a food truck dinner and enjoyed some live music while we ate!

My friend Sarah and I had our last early Thursday morning discipleship meeting before I go to China.  We have been meeting every Thursday to share, discuss what we are learning from the bible and pray together.  We plan to re-start once I find my footing again :).

On Memorial Day Weekend the girls each had their recital.  Lucy’s was Friday evening and Vera’s was Saturday afternoon.  This was Lucy’s first year in dance and she was Snow White.  Scott came on stage at the end of her dance with all the other dads and scooped her up and kissed her, “her prince charming.”  It was the sweetest.  She was so proud of her flowers and being a “big girl”.

Vera did a tap and ballet dance as well as an acrobatics routine.  She decided not to sign-up for dance next year and just do tumbling so we enjoyed her “last dance recital”.

Grandma and Grandpa came to town for the two recitals and then when Vera was done, we grabbed a quick bite to eat and caravned up to the lake so we could make it in time for the sunset, a fire and s’mores!

We spent the rest of the weekend testing out Grandma’s new pontoon boats, swimming in the hot tub, sitting by the fire and relaxing!  It was the perfect way to relax before the final end of school year push and travel preparations for China!  We will be back up to the lake for the 4th of July right back after we get back!

May was a busy month, full of fun and special memories.  June is shaping up to be a BIG month too.  We will keep you posted on our adoption journey on Instagram and Facebook so make sure you are following along there.  We leave June 4th!  I have some amazing guest bloggers who will be filling in for me in the month of June so make sure to stop by for all more simple and purposeful content to help you live simple on purpose!

Until next time, keep on keeping on with a simple purposeful life.
