Quick & Easy Resurrection Rolls Recipe with Explanation

Easter is right around the corner and one of our favorite ways to illustrate his ascension to heaven is with this resurrection rolls recipe.

Resurrection roll\ illustrates that Jesus was in the tomb (the marshmallow) and 3 days later was not. When you pull the resurrection rolls out of the oven, the marshmallow will be gone.

We have resurrection rolls, or empty tomb rolls, as some call them every year around Easter. Not only is it a good illustration but they are delicious so double the recipe!

Quick & Easy Resurrection Rolls Recipe

You know I like to keep things simple around here and this recipe is no exception. You can whip these up in under 15 minutes which means not only is it a great breakfast option but it also makes a great snack or dessert too.

Resurrection Rolls Ingredients

  • 1/4 Cup Butter, Melted
  • 8 Marshmallows (regular size)
  • 1/4 Cup Sugar
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Cinnamon
  • Package of Crescent Rolls

Resurrection Rolls Directions

This is a great recipe for kids to help you in the kitchen. It’s not too messy and a great way to spend some time together. Go ahead and preheat the oven to 350 degrees and spray a muffin tin with cooking spray.

Then, mix together the 1/4 Cup sugar and 1/2 tablespoon of cinnamon in a small bowl (like a cereal bowl).

Unfold, the crescent rolls into triangles and place 1 marshmallow in the middle. Then, roll up. Make sure you leave at least one little hole in one side so you can see inside when it’s done cooking.

Once the marshmallow has been wrapped up in the crescent roll, brush with butter using a pastry brush and roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Place in the muffin tin and continue until all the crescent rolls have been used.

Did I mention you might want to double the batch? Everyone always wants more than one?

Cook for 9-11 minutes, pull out of the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes. By experience, I can tell you they are best served fresh!

Resurrection Rolls Easter Explanation

At Easter we celebrate Jesus, our savior, going to the cross for each of our sins. We are all sinners in need of a savior. Thankfully, God sent Jesus, his son, to die for us. He was laid in a tomb after he died on the cross.

The marshmallow loosely represents Jesus in the resurrection roll illustration. The marshmallow goes in the tomb, but after some time (cooking) it’s gone.

Jesus had conquered death. His sacrifice gives us forgiveness for our sins and eternal life in heaven. For the full resurrection story, read John 19-20.
