10 Fun & Easy Thanksgiving Party Games for Families

November 11, 2025

Thanksgiving isn’t just about the food — it’s about laughter, connection, and those little moments that become family stories you tell for years.

I like to say I’m the queen of party games because they break the ice, get everyone laughing, and keep the conversation far away from politics (if you know, you know 😉). I’ll never forget one year, my grandfather and uncle (both pretty quiet and stoic) got really into playing Pass the Feather around the Thanksgiving table. We laughed so hard we could barely breathe — and that memory still makes me smile every year, which is extra special now that my grandfather is no longer with us.

That’s the magic of simple games: they bring generations together, get people to put down their phones, remind us to be present, and make gratitude fun. These easy Thanksgiving party games use feathers, cranberries, and everyday items to spark connection and joy — without adding any extra stress to your day. Because when we play with purpose, we create memories that last long after the leftovers are gone.

🦃 10 Thanksgiving Party Games for Families

1. Canned Cranberry Slice Game

You’ll need: 1 can of jellied cranberry sauce, 1 penny, a butter knife, and a plate.

Balance a penny carefully on top of the cranberry “log” top. Each player takes turns slicing thin pieces off the cranberry without letting the penny fall. The player who makes it drop loses!

2. Cranberry Stack

You’ll need: A flat surface and a handful of fresh cranberries.

Players stack cranberries one on top of another as high as possible without the tower falling. Simple, nerve-wracking fun!

💡 Variation: Use a 30-second timer and play elimination rounds. Tallest tower wins.

3. Pin the Feather on the Turkey

You’ll need: A large paper turkey (drawn or printed), paper feathers, tape, and a blindfold.

Blindfold each player, spin them around gently, and see who can pin their feather closest to the turkey’s tail.

💡 Variation: For younger kids, skip the spinning and time them instead. Everyone gets a turn to decorate!

4. Pass the Feather

You’ll need: One feather and one straw per person.

Players sit in a circle or around the table. Using only their straws, they must pass the feather to the next person without dropping it. If it hits the table or floor, start over.

💡 Variation: Compete by teams at different tables to see who can make the most successful passes in a row.

5. Cranberry Cup Toss

You’ll need: Dried corn, popcorn, or cranberries — and a plastic cup or bowl per player.

Players stand a few feet back and toss kernels into their cup. Most in 30 seconds wins!

💡 Variation: For teams, alternate turns tossing into a shared bowl and count the total at the end.

6. Thanksgiving Fishbowl

This is a hilarious, fast-paced guessing game that mixes wordplay, memory, and acting—all with a festive twist. To play, give everyone a few slips of paper and have each person write down three Thanksgiving-related words or phrases (like “pumpkin pie,” “turkey trot,” or “Black Friday”). Fold them up and put them all in a bowl, then divide the group into two teams.

Teams take turns drawing slips and trying to guess as many as they can in 30 seconds. The game has three rounds, using the same set of clues each time. In Round 1, players can say anything to describe the clue except the word or phrase itself—for example, for “pumpkin pie,” you might say “a dessert with orange filling.” In Round 2, you can only use one word—maybe just “dessert.” Finally, in Round 3, it’s charades time: no talking, just act it out!

After each round, tally up how many clues each team guessed correctly, then put all the slips back in the bowl before starting the next round. The team with the most total points at the end of all three rounds wins. It’s simple, silly, and guaranteed to get everyone laughing—perfect for post-dinner fun.

7. Feather Keepy Uppy (Bluey-Inspired!)

You’ll need: a feather (or a dried leaf) and a piece of cardstock or lightweight cardboard (cut from a box that just arrived at your door) per player. You can also use a paper plate.

Teams must keep their feather in the air by waving their cardboard — no touching or hands! The feather must never hit the floor.

💡 Variation: Play music and add “distraction challenges” (like hopping on one foot or switching hands). The last team standing wins!

8. Whipped Cream Catch Challenge

You’ll need: Canned whipped cream and napkins.

Place a small dollop of whipped cream on your wrist. Smack your arm just above it so the whipped cream flies into the air — then try to catch it in your mouth!

💡 Variation: Turn it into a competition to see who can catch it in the fewest tries. Bonus points for creativity or height!

9. Leaf Blowing Relay

You’ll need: A few dried leaves from outside (or you can use the feathers from previous games) and one straw per player.

Line up at one end of a long table or counter. Players blow their feather from start to finish using the straw — no hands allowed! If it blows off the table, they have to start over—the player who blows their feather to the other end of the table first wins.

💡 Variation: Make it a relay! Once one player reaches the end, the next teammate goes. Fastest team to finish wins!

10. Turkey Feather Relay

You’ll need: One feather per player.

Each player balances the feather on their hand, shoulder, or nose and races across the room. If it drops — back to start!

💡 Variation: Add a few “obstacles” like a chair to go around or a pumpkin to step over for extra laughs.

Bonus Game: Thanksgiving Fish Bowl
