What’s Up March 2018

First of all, thank you all for your sweet words of encouragement with the blog rebrand.  I am really excited about some ideas for our tribe!  Let’s keep on keeping on together!  Well, this month felt really long yet went really fast.  How can that be?  Before, we bid adios to March in favor of hopefully more spring-like weather and celebrating our Risen Savior, let recap March!

What I’m Reminiscing About –

Sitting in a huge pool inflatable in my parents’ pool in the warm sun!

What I’m Loving –

Fresh spring flowers! The weather doesn’t say spring but the flowers do!  Our local grocery store has run a deal all month on daffodils. You can get a bunch for $1.50.  I need to go one more time yet this week to get some for the weekend!

What We’ve Been up to in March –

A spring break trip to Arizona (read more here)

We wrapped up basketball and it was nice enough to play at the park after the last game!

Playing all of our favorite games including Zingo and Jenga!

Hanging out at home and getting potty trained!

Cleaning out all of our closets!

Trying to play outside whenever the weather is nice enough!

The big two cashed in their Valentine dates with mom before we left for spring break.  Vera and I went to Target, had pizza and then went and got our nails done for our trip!

Solon and I went ice skating and got doughnuts. Funny story, the ice was melting and I fell right to the bottom when I got on the city rink!  Solon was mostly light enough to skate until he took a tumble and his bottom broke the ice!  We laughed so hard, thankfully he wasn’t disappointed!

Every Friday night we had family movie night and the kids set up a popcorn stand!  This month we watched Evan Almighty, Matilda and Leap all on Netflix.

The first day of spring break we visited Scott’s office and then took him out to lunch!

We said goodbye to dear friends in our small group as they moved away to VA!

What I’m Dreading –

I was dreading the website transfer.  It was a lot of work and I am still learning the new system.  Something you may not know about me but I hate the in between of learning a new skill.  It doesn’t feel great and I just want to go back to what I know how to do but I keep repeating keep on keeping on!  I am still appealing facebook to get my name changed there…fingers crossed they approve the appeal!

What I’m Workin on –

I am really excited about about a couple of projects I am working on for Simple Purposeful Living.  I am sharing one super exciting thing with my email VIP’s on Friday so make sure you sign-up for the emails 🙂 (you can here).  Not to mention, we have another monthly challenge coming next week and it’s so simple but super purposeful!  How’s that for a tease?

In case you missed why I changed the name, you can read more here.

What I’m Excited About –

Spring weather and Solon starts baseball as soon as the weather cooperates!

What We Are Watching –

Friends (Netflix) – currently season 9

This Is Us (NBC) – just finished last night

When Calls the Heart (Hallmark) **First 5 Seasons are on Netflix

Victoria (Netflix) – My parents just recommended so it’s on our list

Counting On (TLC)

What We Are Reading –

Read this month –
Intentional Living By John Maxwell
Grace Not Perfection by Emily Ley
I loved both of these books and was inspired by both authors to continue my pursuit of being purposeful with a good dose of grace for good measure!

Currently on my nightstand –

The Business Boutique by Christy B. Wright
Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire (year 4) **reading with Solon
Up Next –
A Love So True (Book 2 Teaville Moral Society)
Cultivate What Matters by Lara Casey
The Connected Child by Karyn B. Purvis
I want to read –
Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis
It’s Simply Tuesday by Emily P. Freeman
Missional Motherhood by Gloria Furman
In This Moment by Karen Kingsbury

What We Are Listening To –

Kidzbop Kids music on Alexa, a whole lot of basketball, rainfall and the occasional podcast.  I also re-downloaded Audible and that’s how I am listening to Business Boutique and then Cultivate What Matters!

What I am Wearing –

What We’re Doing this Weekend –

It’s Easter! Scott’s sister’s family will be here.  The kids can’t wait to play with their cousins.  We plan to make resurrection rolls, have an Easter egg hunt, dye Easter eggs, visit the easter bunny and of course celebrate our Risen Savior.  I am sharing my faith story on Sunday at church. If you are local and need a place to worship, join us at Ankeny Free!

You can read my testimony here!

What Else is New –

We mailed in our I-800A and are working on compiling all our dossier paperwork.  We head downtown tomorrow to get our biometric scan done as well as request new marriage/birth certificates (since they have to be brand new).  My sister-in-law’s family (the ones visiting for Easter) is also adopting and their dossier just arrived in China so we are anxiously waiting to hear about their match!

My sister is also expecting their first child in May so we can’t wait for some newborn snuggles.

So much to look forward to in the coming months around here!

I think that wraps up March!  Today’s the nicest day of the week so excuse me while I go out and enjoy the sunshine!  See you on Friday!  Leave a note, I am testing out my new comments feature ;)!

Until next time keep on keeping on with a simple purposeful life!
